About Us
We are a small group of volunteers based in Australia and Kenya. Coming together initially during Covid to provide emergency food supplies, we officially registered as an Australian charity in late 2020 with a focus on long term education support for Maasai communities bordering important wildlife habitat in the Amboseli and Mara areas in Kenya.
We concentrate on two primary objectives; aiding with the costs of education and educating young people about conservation.
By empowering students with knowledge, we strive to cultivate in them a genuine passion for the environment, which in turn helps wildlife and protects habitat.
Why Maasai community Kenya?

Kenya’s conservancies are the life blood of the country’s rich biodiversity. Owned by the local Maasai communities and leased under conservation agreements, these lands provide safe habitat for wildlife, opportunity for low density ecotourism and income generation for the community (such as land lease payments, employment and other financial incentives).
The Maarifa Foundation, in appreciation of the community’s contribution to conservation, assists with paying school fees and college tuition, provides necessary technology and resources and employs educators from the local community.
The Maarifa Foundation is an Australian-registered charity
